Program details

Questions before you apply.

Do I need prior beauty or tattoo experience?

Not always. Applicants are considered individually. Your experience, goals, availability, and readiness for hands-on training are discussed during the interview.

How does Connecticut's 2,000-hour requirement apply?

Connecticut DPH requires qualifying applicants to document 2,000 hours of practical training under the supervision of a Connecticut licensed tattoo technician, unless another listed pathway applies. Nahid will discuss supervision and documentation with serious applicants, but licensing decisions are made by Connecticut DPH.

How long does the program take?

The schedule depends on the specialty, your starting experience, model availability, and the supervised hours required for your intended licensing path.

Is training online or in person?

Core instruction and supervised practical work are held in person at Shihan Beauty Clinic in Avon, Connecticut.

How large are the classes?

Training is intentionally kept to individual mentorship or small cohorts so each student receives direct observation and feedback.

Can I train in more than one modality?

Yes. Brow, lip, and eyeliner pathways can be discussed separately or as a staged training plan based on your goals.

How much is tuition?

Tuition depends on the pathway and scope of training. Costs, schedule, payment expectations, and included materials are reviewed before enrollment.

Are equipment and supplies included?

Included items vary by pathway. Nahid will provide a written list of supplied materials and any student equipment requirements before you commit.

Will I work with real clients?

Hands-on progression may include supervised model work after foundational skills and safety standards are demonstrated. Model timing is determined by readiness and availability.

Will I receive documentation or a certificate?

Program records and completion documentation are discussed during enrollment. A training certificate is not itself a Connecticut license; applicants remain responsible for meeting DPH requirements.

What happens after I apply?

Shihan reviews your application, usually responds within two business days, and may invite you to an in-person interview at the Avon studio.

Can I ask questions before applying?

Yes. Call (860) 678-0200 or use the application form and choose the programs you are considering.
